Sound insulations are effective products in reducing the noise from one space to another. They also work to reduce vibration and keep sound as genuine as possible. Sound insulations come in many forms and aid in refurbishing older buildings as well as with new construction.
Foam Sound Insulation
Foam insulators are good at controlling noise and are easy to use in new construction or to update an existing home. The insulation is installed by spraying foam into the spaces between flooring and wall and ceiling boards. If a wall with some other type of insulation exists, the foam can be added to fill any spaces not filled in and further reduce noise. A small opening is made in the wall, floor or ceiling boards to install the foam in existing buildings.
For new construction, foam is sound insulation is sprayed into the entire wall, floor or ceiling area before the final boards are installed. The foam is allowed to dry and as it does, it expands to fill even the tiniest of gaps. This creates even better resistance to noise and better home sound insulation.
Sound Isolation to Reduce Noise
Noise is minimized when sound is isolated and controlled. The insulations used in homes and buildings accomplish this only if it is a thick enough density. Regular insulation to control the elements such as temperature and moisture are not nearly as effective. For example, floor sound insulation is two to three times as dense as the same thickness of regular fibreglass insulation.
Isolating sound is also used in other processes such as sonar and ultrasound. Here sound is used to create a reading based on how loud it is in comparison to how far it is from a surface. That is how shapes are outlined using ultrasound, and an unborn baby’s shape can be defined or an underwater missile detected.
Reflective Building Insulation
Reflective building insulation is primarily used for trapping moisture and not for controlling noise or vibration. It is effective in keeping basements dry and can be used to reflect heat – keeping an area cool in the summer and warmer in the winter. To get good sound and noise containment and control, the foams and boards are the most effective sound insulations.
